A Southwest Airlines flight traveling from Baltimore to Tampa was compelled to make an emergency diversion to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after a passenger’s battery charger overheated and started emitting smoke while in mid-air. The Boeing 737-700, bearing registration N7713A and operating as flight WN-1844, was cruising at 40,000 feet, roughly 80 nautical miles southeast of Myrtle Beach, when the situation unfolded.
