The second incident of the day involved an Iberia Airbus A330-300 (EC-LUX), which was performing flight IB381 from Madrid Barajas Airport to Luis Munoz Marin International Airportin Puerto Rico. It was climbing out of Madrid’s runway 36L when the crew stopped the climb at 5,000 feet after reporting a strong odor of smoke in the cabin. The aircraft returned to Madrid safely, but the flight was subsequently canceled, and the aircraft remains grounded in the Spanish capital.
