The crew issued a desperate Mayday call for help and the flight diverted to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.
Emergency crews on the ground declared a major incident, according to BNO news.
A fleet fire trucks, ambulances and a medical helicopter descended onto the runway.
